The Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry and Pharmacy of the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main offers immediately a position of a Experienced full-stack Web Developer (E13 a TV-G-U) limited until June 30th 2023. The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U). If the required qualifications are not available, you will be payed according to the next lower level based on the above named collective agreement.

They are looking for a skilled, highly motivated and experienced full-stack web developer to support an international open science effort in translational medical research. The position is open in Stockholm, Frankfurt or Toronto. This is an exciting opportunity to work with diverse high-quality data types to develop novel web-based tools and platforms for data capture and dissemination. We offer a multi-national and collaborative research environment with partners in academia and the biomedical industry worldwide.

Your mission A skilled, highly motivated and experienced full-stack web developer is needed to play a critical role in the continuous development and implementation of dissemination methods for the SGC and EUbOPEN partners. This role will develop and maintain web platforms to support effective public awareness and output dissemination in the context of translational medical research. Existing Drupal-based web sites and EUbOPEN, WordPress-based sites such as opennotebooks and a number of other project-specific sites will be maintained, upgraded and/or re-built.

The SGC and our partners are a source of diverse data types and high-quality data which provides an unusually rich environment for development of novel tools using cutting-edge technologies. This has resulted in a number of web applications being developed, such as ChemiReg, ChromoHub, and UbiHub (see SGC), which this post will further support and develop. Opportunities to develop additional data capture and dissemination web-based platforms will become available as new scientific projects are supported.

Your profile

  • A graduate degree in bioinformatics, computer science or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Demonstrable web development experience to include the specification, management and delivery of web-based projects as well as significant data visualisation work
  • Experience of developing within the Drupal and WordPress platforms
  • Demonstrated proficiency in web programming languages such as PHP, CSS3, JavaScript, Python and also standard toolkits such as jQuery and Node.js
  • A high level of competence in development and interactions with Oracle and MySQL databases • Experience of systems administration in a Linux server environment
  • Demonstrated record of learning and applying new technologies
  • Well-organised with the ability to prioritise, and re-prioritise work in order to meet changing deadlines
  • Ability to advise and influence strategic direction with regards to data dissemination approaches
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills working with stakeholders from different backgrounds, often remotely Desirable:
  • Experience with transpiled languages such as TypeScript and Haxe
  • Track record of developing with the EXTJS UI framework
  • Ability to grasp novel visualisation concepts and requirements leading to collaborative interpretation and implementation
